“Despite Promises, Biden Looks a Lot Like Trump on Border Issues”

A recent op-ed written by two well-respected immigration law professors—"Despite Promises, Biden Looks a Lot Like Trump on Border Issues"—masterfully calls out the political calculus at work in the Biden administration's immigration policy.

As they point out, notwithstanding a less xenophobic rhetoric on immigration, President Biden has continued one of the very worst of the Trump-era policies: the Steven Miller-inspired implementation of an archaic public health measure known as Title 42 that Trump used to essentially shut down the U.S.-Mexico border—even to asylum seekers who are following the legally established procedure of coming to the border and asking for protection from harm.

This is exactly the travesty that our abogadas have been fighting against, one case at a time, on the ground at the U.S.-Mexico border.

This opinion piece is worth reading, and sharing. Kudos to the authors, Sarah Sherman-Stokes of Boston University School of Law and Lindsay M. Harris of the University of the District of Columbia's David A. Clarke School of Law, for setting out so clearly the current administration's hypocrisy.
